Danish State aid scheme to support industrial decarbonisation greenlighted
The Commission has approved, under Article 107(3)(c) TFEU and the CEEAG, a Danish scheme with a budget of EUR 134 million (DKK 1 billion) to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from industrial activities and ferries. The measure aims to facilitate the switch to more environmentally friendly fuels and thereby accelerate the green transition.
The scheme, which runs until September 2028, provides direct grants allocated through a competitive bidding process, with beneficiaries competing on the basis of the cost per ton of CO₂ avoided. Support will cover the additional costs of using cleaner fuels and will be paid only where companies could not make the switch without public aid. Grants may be awarded annually for a period of up to ten years.
The non-confidential version of the decision will be published under case number SA. 113683.
