The Commission requests feedback on the revision of the guidelines on state aid to the aviation sector
The European Commission has launched a call for evidence to gather information on the scope and content of its revision of the 2014 Guidelines on State aid to airports and airlines (the ‘Aviation Guidelines’). Contributions can be made until October 8, 2024.
The Aviation Guidelines set out the conditions under which Member States and local authorities can grant state aid to airports and airlines. The aim of the call for evidence is to gather facts and evidence on how this framework works and to assess the extent to which the guidelines may or may not need to be amended or revised.
According to the information published by the Commission, the call for evidence aims to: analyse the evolution of the aviation market since the adoption of the Aviation Guidelines and the needs of the aviation sector, as well as the Commission’s decision-making practice; assess whether the aviation guidelines should be updated and simplified in order to reduce the administrative burden and improve compliance by Member States; assess how to better align the Aviation Guidelines with the priorities of the European Green Deal.
