Amendments to the Practice Rules for the Implementation of the Rules of Procedure of the General Court to improve efficiency
The Amendments have been published in the Official Journal (OJ) today and will take effect on 1 June 2025.
The General Court has amended points 210 and 211 of its Practice Rules regarding the preparation of summary reports for hearings. Summary reports have always been prepared in direct actions to organize and clarify parties’ arguments. However, their routine use has led to economic burdens, translation costs, and procedural delays, prompting the Court to revise its practice.
To improve efficiency, summary reports will now be prepared only when deemed necessary by the Court or the Judge-Rapporteur. For joint hearings, the updated rules allow either individual reports for each case or a single collective report, depending on the circumstances, ensuring that parties still receive documents in the appropriate language.
