CISAF: EUR 100 million scheme to support cleantech manufacturing capacity in Austria

The Commission has approved a EUR 100 million Austrian scheme to boost manufacturing capacity for net-zero technologies, supporting the goals of the Clean Industrial Deal.

The measure will provide direct grants to companies investing in additional production capacity for net-zero technologies and their key components, as well as for the production of new or recovered critical raw materials needed for these technologies. Nuclear fission and other nuclear technologies are excluded from the scope.

The Commission found the scheme to be fully in line with  Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework (CISAF) requirements, noting that it will incentivise clean-technology manufacturing and is necessary, appropriate and proportionate to support the transition to a net-zero economy, while maintaining limited effects on competition and trade within the EU.
