CISAF: EUR 300 million Irish scheme to support renewable heat
The measure is intended to help Ireland meet its 2030 targets under the Renewable Energy Directive, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and increase the share of renewable energy in heating by approximately 3%.
The scheme will support non-domestic heat users that install eligible renewable heating systems, including biomass, anaerobic digestion, and high-efficiency combined heat and power installations. Aid will be granted through administratively set tariffs per metered unit of useful renewable heat output, with strict safeguards such as project-specific budget caps, tariff reviews, and rules preventing overcompensation or cumulation with other aid.
The Commission approved the scheme under the Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework, concluding that it is necessary, appropriate, and proportionate to accelerate renewable heat deployment without unduly distorting competition in the internal market.
