Cleantech manufacturing support State aid scheme approved by the Commission in Austria

The Commission has greenlighted a EUR 10 million scheme aimed at supporting clean technology (cleantech) manufacturing capacity in compliance with the Clean Industrial Deal objectives, namely the transition to a net-zero economy.

All companies that carry out investments adding manufacturing capacity for the production of net-zero technologies or of the main specific components of these technologies will be eligible for the scheme. Aid will also be granted for the production or recovering of critical raw materials necessary for these technologies. The aid will take the form of direct grants. The scheme runs until the 31st of January 2027.

The Commission approved the scheme, which it found to be in line with the Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework (CISAF), noting that the aid will incentivise the production of clean technologies, main specific components and critical raw materials. It deemed the scheme necessary and appropriate. Furthermore, the Commission found that the aid is restricted to the minimum necessary, does not substantially affect the internal market and it is proportionate.
