Commission approves State aid scheme for fishing companies in Croatia

The Commission has approved EUR 8 million in State aid for fishing companies in Croatia in light of increased fuel prices due to the crisis in the Middle east. The Croatian measure will take the form of direct grants and will cover up to 70% of the additional fuel costs incurred by the companies up to a maximum of EUR 50.000.

The scheme has been approved under the Middle East Crisis Temporary State Aid Framework (METSAF). The Commission found the scheme to be necessary, appropriate, proportionate and compatible with the conditions set out in the METSAF. It established that this State aid scheme will not adversely affect trade between Member States.

The scheme will be in place until the 31st of December 2026.
