Commission opens in-depth State aid investigation into PostNord Strålfors capital injections.
PostNord Strålfors is a firm that operates in communication management. It received four capital injections by its parent company PostNord Strålfors Group AB between 2014 and 2019 worth a total of EUR 15.9 million. PostNord Strålfors Group AB is in turn a subsidiary of PostNord Group AB, which is owned by the Swedish (60%) and Danish (40%) company PostNordAB.
The complainant alleges that the capital injections are imputable to Denmark and Sweden and that a private investor would not have invested the money as PostNord Strålfors was loss-making.
The Commission has doubts on whether the capital injections in 2017, 2018 and 2019 are in line with EU State aid rules. This decision by the Commission follows the line of two other opening formal investigations with regards to the following entities: Post Danmark and PostNord Logistics. The decisions concerning those two firms were a reaction to a judgment of the Court of Justice confirming the General Court’s view that the Commission did not conduct a sufficient examination of the capital injection and should have opened a formal investigation procedure.
