Commission validates extension of Dutch energy-saving aid scheme

The Commission has authorised the prolongation and budget increase for a Dutch scheme supporting energy-saving investments in the glasshouse horticulture sector.

The scheme provides direct grants covering up to 30% of eligible costs for energy-efficiency improvements and the upgrading of existing glasshouses. Originally approved in 2023 and amended in 2025, the scheme has now been extended until 31 December 2030. Its budget has been increased by €248 million, to a total of €380 million.

The Commission found the scheme proportionate and limited to the minimum necessary, with a limited impact on competition and trade between Member States. On this basis, the Commission approved the amended scheme under EU State aid rules.
