METSAF: budget increase for Spanish State aid scheme for farmers facing higher fuel prices
The Commission approved a further EUR 52 million budget increase to the Spanish scheme supporting agricultural companies affected by higher diesel prices due to the Middle East crisis. The original scheme was approved in June 2026 and increased by EUR 55 million in July 2026. With the last amendment the total budget will reach EUR 161 million. The Scheme will run until 31 December 2026.
The Commission assessed the amendment under Article 107(3)(c) TFEU and Sections 1 and 2.1 of the Middle East Crisis Temporary State Aid Framework (METSAF). It found that the amended scheme remains necessary, appropriate and proportionate and does not adversely affect trading conditions to an extent contrary to the common interest.
The decision will be made available under the case number SA.124966 in the State aid register.
