METSAF: Commission approves EUR 54 million State aid for road and rail transport firms facing increased fuel prices in Luxembourg
The scheme was approved under the Middle East Crisis Temporary State Aid Framework (METSAF).
The aid will take the form of direct grants. The aid can cover up to 70% of the additional fuel costs resulting from the Middle East crisis incurred between 1 March and 31 December 2026.
The Commission assessed the scheme under EU State aid rules, in particular Article 107(3)(c) TFEU and Sections 1 and 2.2 of the METSAF. It found that the scheme is necessary, appropriate, proportionate and that it does not affect trading conditions.
