LNG Terminal in Croatia: Commission Approves €25 Million State Aid

The European Commission has approved a €25 million Croatian state aid measure to support the expansion of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on the island of Krk. This investment, partly funded through the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), will enable the installation of an additional regasification module, boosting the terminal's capacity and enhancing energy security in Croatia and the South-Eastern Europe region.

In line with the REPowerEU plan and based on the Guidelines on State aid for climate, environmental protection and energy, the Commission's approval underlines the importance of the project in diversifying energy supplies, increasing the stability of gas supplies, development of energy infrastructure and reduction of the dependence on Russian fossil fuels.
