EUR 84 million Czech aid scheme to boost animal health and strengthen agricultural resilience greenlighted

The Commission has approved a scheme to improve animal health and support the agricultural sector’s resilience and sustainability. It will run until 31 December 2031, providing direct grants to pig‑breeding farms for disease prevention, infrastructure upgrades, and biosecurity measures. These actions aim to reduce disease outbreaks, cut antibiotic use, and promote long‑term food security.

The Commission approved the scheme under the Guidelines for State aid in the agricultural and forestry sectors and in rural areas finding it necessary, proportionate and appropriate to encourage the relevant investments.
