METSAF: EUR 15 million aid for agricultural and aquaculture companies in France approved
The measure targets operators in the primary production of agricultural and aquaculture products affected by the sharp rise in non-road diesel (gazole non routier, GNR) prices between February and April 2026, which increased from EUR 0.70 to EUR 1.22 per litre. The scheme runs until 31 December 2026 and provides direct grants based on fuel volumes purchased in April 2026, with beneficiaries receiving EUR 0.0386 per litre, covering up to 70% of the additional costs incurred.
The Commission approved the measure under the Middle East Crisis Temporary State Aid Framework (METSAF), concluding that it is necessary, appropriate and proportionate to mitigate the impact of increased fuel prices, while remaining limited in scope and duration and based on a clearly defined budget. The Commission had already approved a similar measure for fishing companies (see PR).
