Commission approves EUR 219 million Italian scheme to support cleantech manufacturing capacity

The Commission has approved a EUR 219 million Italian scheme aimed at supporting manufacturing capacity in the Lazio region, in line with the objectives of the Clean Industrial Deal. The measure is intended to help accelerate the transition towards a net-zero economy.

The aid will take the form of direct grants to companies investing in new manufacturing capacity for net-zero technologies, their main components, and critical raw materials needed for their production.

The Commission approved the scheme under the Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework (CISAF), finding it compliant with the framework, as it promotes clean technology production, can be granted until 31 December 2030, and is necessary, appropriate, and proportionate to support the transition to a net-zero economy.
