Commission Extends Current Rules on Rescue and Restructuring Aid
The Commission has prolonged the possibility of granting rescue and restructuring aid to non-financial companies in difficulty under the Guidelines on State aid for rescuing and restructuring of non-financial undertakings in difficulty a year longer, until 31 December 2026.
The Commission is reviewing the 2014 Rescue and Restructuring Guidelines, which allow Member States to support non-financial companies in difficulty under strict conditions to limit market distortions and ensure efficient public spending. On 22 August 2025, the Commission launched a call for evidence and public consultation, open until 14 November 2025, to inform the revision. The current Guidelines are being extended beyond 31 December 2025, without changes, to prevent a legal gap and ensure predictability while the review is ongoing.
