Commission seeks feedback on evaluation of State aid rules for public service broadcasting
The Commission has opened a call for evidence and public consultation to evaluate the 2009 Broadcasting Communication, which sets out the State aid rules for public service broadcasting. The initiative seeks feedback on how the rules have functioned since 2009, whether they remain fit for purpose, and what challenges stakeholders have faced in their application.
Both a general public consultation addressed to any interested citizen, business, or organisation and a targeted expert consultation addressed to stakeholders with specific expertise and experience in the public service broadcasting sector (market participants, public authorities and academics) are open for responses until 14 January 2026.
Once the consultation period ends, the Commission will analyse the responses and publish a Staff Working Document summarising the evaluation’s main findings.
