Postal Sector: Compensation for Czech Post’s public service obligation for 2025-2029 greenlighted

The Commission has approved the granting of up to EUR 60 million aid per year to Czech Post from 2025 to 2029 to compensate costs for providing universal postal services and Postal Money Orders as part of its public service obligation.

The measure has been approved under Article 106(2) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU, the Postal Services Directive, and the Services of General Economic Interest (‘SGEI’) Framework, confirming that the universal postal service and Postal Money Order service qualify as SGEIs and that no overcompensation is provided.
