Transition to Net-zero Economy: Commission Approves €279 Million Czech State Aid Scheme to Support Energy Storage
Today, the European Commission (Commission) has approved a EUR 279 million Czech state aid measure to support investments in electricity storage facilities to boost the transition towards a net-zero economy.
The scheme aims to decrease the Czech electricity system’s dependence on fossil fuel imports while enabling the seamless integration of renewable energy sources into the energy mix. It is funded entirely through the Modernisation Fund and provided in the form of direct grants.
The Commission has approved the scheme under the State aid Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework (TCTF), finding it necessary, appropriate and proportionate to accelerate the green transition, as well as respecting the requirements established in the TCTF.
